200 years of Frankenstein
Artificial intelligence and its consequences
Frankenstein, the first novel by Mary Shelley, who was only 20 years old at the time, was published 200 years ago. The story of the artificial human being has lost none of its power.
The creature created by the young Swiss student Victor Frankenstein in Mary Shelley's novel has since then entered pop culture under his name. Frankenstein is not only an icon of the horror genre, but also - in times of artificial intelligence - of great topicality: What if man no longer has his creation under control?
