Harry Rowohlt, born on 27.3.1945 in Hamburg 13, lives in Hamburg, Eppendorf, is a translator, reciter and occasional actor in the TV series Lindenstrasse. He has translated well over 100 books from English into German, including A.A. Milne's Pooh the Bear, Frank McCourt's bestseller The Ashes of My Mother, Shel Silverstein's Raufgefallen and Roger Boylan's Killoyle. In 2001 he was awarded the Göttingen Elk, in 1999 the Johann Heinrich Voss Prize for Translation of the German Academy for Language and Poetry, in 1997 the Brothers Grimm Prize of the City of Hanau and in 1996 he was named Ambassador of Irish Whiskey. In 2003, he received the platinum record for 250,000 sold Pooh the Bear CDs and in 2004, the WDR awarded him the German Audiobook Prize for Flan O'Brien, On Swimming-Two Birds. Finally, in 2011 he was awarded the honorary prize of the Prix Pantheon.
