Roxane Gay
Confessions of a bad feminist
One of the most brilliant, brightest and exciting female voices in the USA graces our festival. It is the first appearance of the feminist star author in the German-speaking world!
At the festival, Roxane Gay will present not only her essay collection Bad Feminist, with which she became famous, but also her new bestseller Hunger. It is the story of her body. It is not a story of triumph. It's one of a life cut in half. There is the before and the after. Before Roxane Gay gained weight and after. Before she was raped and after.
Roxane Gay, born in 1974, is a professor of literature and one of the most important socio-political and literary voices of her time. She writes for the New York Times and the Guardian, among other publications, and is coauthor of the Marvel comic World of Wakanda, the template for one of the most successful films of all time: Black Panther (2018).
