Wilhelm Genazino
Idylls in the semi-nature
The Büchner Prize winner and master of grotesque humor reads on the occasion of his seventieth birthday in the Old Botanical Garden.
Wilhelm Genazino (* 1943 in Mannheim) is considered one of the most important German-language writers. He is a wonderful observer of everyday life, known for his gentle irony and grotesque humor. He writes about ordinary people, all of them screwy types full of comedy and tragedy. His work has won many awards, including the Georg Büchner Prize, the Kleist Prize and the Fontane Prize.
Finely tuned to the cozy ambience in the Old Botanical Garden, Wilhelm Genazino reads from Idyllen in der Halbnatur (2012) and Wenn wir Tiere wären (2011).
